I found this story on FB (again the evil FB). Makes you want to run out and buy/rent one.
Buy an electric car they say. Get rid of fossil fuel they say. I rented an EV to drive to Rochester. Kid at Enterprise says “you’ll be fine to drive to Rochester and back.” Got to hotel, it had a charging station, car showed 70 miles left on batteries. Plug car in for $5 and got barely any charge at all. Get up this morning drive to where I was working, very evident I’m not getting home without having to stop somewhere. Finish job, time to head towards home…Jump on thruway, they have these fancy new rest stops! I’ll be good! Driving down Thruway and the car tells me hey there’s a charging station coming up! Wahoo! Get off thruway at one of these fancy new rest stops (that replaced the perfectly fine old rest stops.) Pull up to a bank of 8 EV chargers to plug my car in, I’ll charge up and be on my way! Wrong….none of the plugs fit this car (A Hyundai). Because why would you make all EV plugs universal?! Get back on thruway with 20 miles left on my “tank” and only 78 miles to go to get to Syracuse. Drive 8 miles to next exit get off thruway drive 10 miles off thruway so I could sit for a half an hour to charge up. This charging station had more different variations of plugs, this time luckily it had one that fit my car. Not sure what you do after that if it didn’t fit… anyway… Put in $16.33 worth of electricity which got me a “half a tank” pulled into the airport with 30 miles left on my batteries. Yeah I’ll run right out an buy one! 🤦🏻♂️ no wonder no one wants all the EV trucks that are sitting on lots everywhere. Moral of story. Every single gas pump nozzle in America fits in my gas tank.

"A fast-charging, direct-current station can charge an EV battery from empty to 80% in 20 minutes to an hour, according to the Department of Transportation. But that's still significantly longer than it takes to fill a tank with gas."
ROFL That's the understatement of the year.

It does cost more. More time and more money. Way more money to maintain one and way worse for the environment to produce the batteries and dispose of them too. Way more money to get our infrastructure up and ready for everything to go to electric too. Sure as hell can't be done with wind or solar power. Have to produce more coal, more oil production will be needed, etc. '
Take a drive anywhere in the 3rd ward and tell me those homes are ready for EV's. It is insanity.
How about when no one has power along the Gulf Coast for a few weeks because of a hurricane. Yeah, EV's are for sure the future.

Look up helium 3 and the amount of energy it provides in a reactor

I have not investigated the truth of this, but the people on the FB page that I took it from say that even snopes says it's true. I

My husband and his boss are driving an electric vehicle to corpus this weekend. The first thing he had to do was to see if there were enough charging stations in between Houston and corpus. Can you imagine if the majority of vehicles were electric and charging stations had to be found.

Highly recommended and so worth it if Captain Pierre has availability. www.sbfishingcharters.com/about.htmlTrying to go again late September.

I'm not a big fisherman so it wasn't a biggie. Seemed like everybody I met was a fishing guide, about 1/2 the ladies at work's hubby were guides. Always talked about the red fish. I do love Tejano women, lots of them down there. Good Mexican Food (Kiko's for me), but, make sure you go by Water Street Oyster Bar/Restuarant, it's just great, unless somethings changed it's one of the best in Texas. It's DT where everytings happening. Snoopy's is good Seafood as well, on SPID right before South Padre Bridge, a great ole tradition Corpus hang out. Doc's is pretty good on the Island. A ton of good Seafood places in Corpus. I miss Corpus Edit-I'm sorry can't read. It your hubby and boss. Well....tell them to make it by Water Street.

Can you imagine the lines and the waiting if the majority of people are waiting to charge their vehicles? A 6 hour trip will now be 10 hours.

It's my favorite fishing area. The bays are 3-5 ft deep for miles and miles. The salt content is very high and the fish are very healthy. No parasites. Never had a bad fishing day down there...sun or storm. He'll take you right along side of the historic King Ranch property. @cador is right about the wind. Chicago may be the windy city but it's got nothing on Corpus IMO. There are alot of part time and wanna be guides down there. Pierre is full time all the time. His wife is an ER nurse. If you decide to go call him directly. Don't book on a fishing app as it costs him $$. And if you go let me know prior and I will tell you a crazy story. I helped blow his business up years ago after my first trip there with all of our kids. The last time we went was in 2021 during Covid. Poor Pierre was burnt out but killing it. I love Mustang Island and like to stay off the beaten path. Like @cador said, Snoopy's and Doc's are still there and good. The Republic of Texas at the top of the Omni has been really good. www.omnihotels.com/hotels/corpus-christi/dining/republic-of-texas

The Republic of Texas at the top of the Omni has been really good. www.omnihotels.com/hotels/corpus-christi/dining/republic-of-texasA funny story about the CC wind. On my first interview with HRH, I wore shorts on the way down and had my suit/white shirt to put on when I got there, making sure it was crisp and non wrinkled for the interview. HRH was on Staples and SPID, right next to the Burger King there. Pulled in BK to put on my suit, poured out 1/2 of cup of coffee, hung my pretty white, crisp, freshly laundered shirt on my window rail on my open door, went in to grab my suit and the wind blew my pretty white shirt off into my coffee puddle, lol. Tried to wash it in the BK bathroom sink and made a mess of it, got some of the dark stuff out but still a light, very noticable coffee stain along with being all wet from chest down . It actually broke the ice with the president as he thought it was pretty funny (and he's a dry personality a-hole with no soh). So it worked in my favor.
