Off to the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential library today. Other than eating a meal somewhere that's probably the only thing we will do in Little Rock today. Tomorrow we're going to hot springs for the day.

We are just now leaving the Clinton Presidential library. This is the fourth one we've been to and is the least impressive, and I'm not saying that because I wasn't a Clinton fan. It was surprisingly impersonal and even though the building is large it was very small. The Presidential library in college station and the George w bush library up in the Dallas area. Even the LBJ library in Austin was more personal. This one lacked color, and it's kind of hard to put my finger on but it was just very superficial. Of course Monica was never addressed. I would recommend going there only for somebody who wants to check it off their list and is a fan of American history. I will say looking at the 8 years documented there, you realize just how much more damaging Obama was. There were a lot of good things that happened during Clinton's presidency. I did have to walk very quickly past any kind of display with a recording of Hillary's voice. Just can't handle that.

The only reason anything good happened during those years is because there was strong republican opposition led by Newt Gingrich. That and Bill was not as fucking crazy as his political marriage partner.

I truly believe that Hillary was behind the death of John f Kennedy jr. He was talking about running for senator in new york, but Hillary wanted that job. So all the sudden he dies in a very very strange airplane crash. In the Presidential library there was a letter from him to Bill Clinton tell him Clinton what a great guy he was.

don't visit Carter's library then....lots of revisionist history and overall, pretty bland. I was surprised that I enjoied the Clinton library. I was expecting to walk away very upset and pissed, lol. For me, it looked much better in person than in photographs.

I've been to both Bush libraries. Like Daddy's because you got a glimpse of Camp David, that was cool, I don't think anyone else has that.
GW's is cool, too
My absolute favorite was the Nixon Library. The Reagan one is cool because you get to go on Air Force One. BUT, it is VERY Nancy-centric

BUT, it is VERY Nancy-centric I've been wondering if they will even let Trump have a presidential library, and if it happens, it will have to be fortified like fort knox. Bush Sr. Had a fascinating career. We really enjoyed the China part of the exhibit and that also the CIA portion. If you think about it for Clinton all he ever did was be some sort of politician or another. I mean, how interesting could you make a few years of being a governor possibly be? So his library was almost entirely just the 8 years of his presidency.

You really need to go to Vicksburg. We drove through the national military memorial. Lots of plaques and signage where various things happened. (Can you tell I'm not a military strategist?) The wreckage of a huge armor plated ship is there across from the cemetery. The cemetery was so sad. Some 17k Union soldiers are buried there, and 13k are unknowns. 😠I started crying thinking about all the mothers who never knew what happened to their sons. Then I started crying even harder when I thought about the boys laying in the fields crying for their moms. 😠My husband looked at me like WTH is the matter with you?? I HAVEN'T BEEN SLEEPING WELL AND I HAVEN'T POOPED IN THREE DAYS, OKAY??? 😂 😂 😂

Nixon's library was just his gubernatorial and congressional items in the beginning. His presidential papers and items were held back by the National Archives. The place was built on an orange grove his family owned. When I visited, they had just come to an agreement with the National Archives and became a part of the other Presidential Libraries system. He and Pat are buried there the grounds also contain the house his father built from a kit. The docent I spoke with said many thought it was purchased from the Sears Catalogue. Nixon had all the original furnishings (they had been in storage) and the house was completely like it was when he lived there.
The libraries are privately funded, so I suspect Trump will have one....he doesn't shy away from monuments to himself, lol. What the government will allow out will be another thing altogether.

Have you been to any of the bath houses? Years ago. Just toured one or two. Never did any spa related stuff there though. Too many people. Hotel hot tub on steroids to me. But there are several fountains around there to fill up great spring water for free. The locals show up with many 5 gallon containers.

EmmyLou you are like my youngest, he can't poop while on vacations. We always lol about it, but it was the same anywhere we went. Best of luck with this! It is so sad those men died and no one knows where they are. It is just heartbreaking. @nycoil and EmmyLou, ya'll have to look up The Fat Electron on YouTube. He does the best American History military videos. They are hilarious and informative. Language can get rough, but his videos should be shown in school in the USA. They make you so proud to be an American.
