A cool song for the mid weekend (it's over for the most part). Uber driving (I left Lyft after their accident claim) hasn't been w/out incident. Had my first throw up, luckily the bitch didn't get it in my car, just all along the outside (you know how I am, that ended my night as I had to go home and wash my car at 3 in the morning). Picked a drunk couple up from a Dixie Farm road bar, they were both hickupping whole way home, finally I heard my window go down and heard her chunking. I told her I would pull over and she adamantly told me no. All down my car, she was good looking too (not very attractive as a drunk dumbass though), lived in a badass neighborhood, prolly a million dollar house. Ask me if I got a tip? You'd be right if you said no, sorry m-f-ers! Got pulled over on Allen Parkway, was on the side street and Uber was telling me to go straight and I knew I had to turn right, problem was I was in the left lane at a stop sign, bigger problem was HPD was right behind me , she pulled me over, she was chill though, ran my DL, came back and told me next time I turned right to be in the right lane (she new I was Ubering). Had a rider with me, she was just as chill, if she would of reported me that's a cause for termination with Uber, but she laughed about it with me. Last w/e I picked up this gal from like Crosstimbers/Jensen area, she was funny as hell. I had already confirmed with her that her BF was paying her Uber and this was a booty call (it was her BD, she said she deserved it), a "co-rider deal" popped up, means she and this rider picked the cheaper "Uber Share" deal, she didn't know she was on share ride (she was on the phone chewing out her bf for it) and it took me to Tidwell and 59 to pick up Benny, she kept telling me not to pick up Benny. I drove up to the hotel and it was Prostitute Alley, about 30 of the skankiest, fattest, ugly, prostitutes you've ever seen, disgusting, and 1/2 of them were all over my car knocking on the window (white boy in a Lincoln), it was a mess. I cancelled the ride and got the phuck out of there, her and I were cracking up the whole way to her bf's. I told her I can knock that option way off my list if ever get hard up, way off, and phuck Benny, he can walk, she was cracking up. I was just about sick to my stomach, it was bad, way bad. Other than that, pretty normal, met alot of nice and interesting folks. Still amazed at the neigborhoods around Houston I never knew about, like down Broadway by Hobby, you see those low down drug dealing looking apts all over on the weay to the a/port and think it's a rat area, but in between the a/port and 45 down Broadway, turn a couple blocks off Broadway there's a larger neighborhood with older, nicer homes, w/ big yards, you wouldn't think it.

Thanks for the Hollies song - I had forgotten about them. I just downloaded a playlist for their music - brought back memories of my 20s. I do sing outloud when I'm by myself - these are sing outloud songs for me!
What accident claim?
Glad you're doing well, we've missed your posts but nice that you're working.
I've known for years and years that the Crosstimbers/Jensen area and Tidwell & 59 area were Whore town. It was just not where nice young ladies wanted to be and I always considered myself a nice young lady! On the Hobby airport side of town, most of that portion going to the airport was not where you wanted to be after dark. Same with MLK Blvd area.
You be careful around those areas - you drive a nice car and you are white - 2 things that will get you shot!

I hear you. The accident claim was the one I posted about a cpl mths ago where a rider claimed I was driving unsafe and injured them, and Lyft wouldn't let me give my side, or even know the details. Crosstimbers/Jensen area would surpise you. I've always driven down 59 passing those areas thinking I don't really want to cruise around there anywhere, but they really arn't that bad. I pick up alot of riders from over there. And MLK, same thing, I've always stayed away, but go drive down there. They've really redone that area, good streets, the new traffic lights area (the new ones with all the decorative lights around it), nice, new, fancy 4 and 5 story apts and other buildings. It's actually not bad, seriously, especially the closer you get to U of H the nicer it gets (sounds like I'm trying to sell a property there, lol). There are still those old stores up and down with folks hanging around there at all hours of the night, that you prolly would be better off not stopping and visiting with .

@cador. I think you need to start a substack or write a book entitled: The Chronicles of an Uber Driver in Housticago, the stories of Cador. Don't you effing scratch my car. And bisch you can't get in if your kid has no carseat. You definitely get to see some interesting sides of humanity. I haven't been through some of those areas in years. I graduated from Dobie on the south side though. It was not bad at all then. Alot of nice neighborhoods. Hung all over Kemah, Clear Lake, Bay Brook, Pearland. But downtown to Hobby and around there always looked like shyte. Parts of MoCo are really bad too. Like full on shantyville surrounding few very nice homes in some areas.

Love your stories. I look forward to them every time you post!
You need a podcast or YouTube channel. You would be able to just do this!

I was thinking the same thing! And, Cador, it sounds like a lot of gentrification is going on there, and you know that's A Bad Thing. For shame!! 😂

Had an uneventful last few days, except just interesting that I picked up a guy last night from the 290/N Fairbanks Road area, he parked his big rig there, took him to In and Out by Willowbrook mall and then back to his truck, 31 mile round trip, paid me $24 bucks plus $4.50 in tolls, so prolly cost him $32-$33, for In and Out, BEFORE he paid for his meal. So a $50 dinner. Must be real good (I haven't had it yet). Folks are interesting.

I went to one south of DFW a while back. I don't know why but it not the same. Just ok.

Unreal someone would do that for any fast food. I have had In and Out in Austin, and wasn't impressed. It was more to do with the homeless people outside laying on the tables though.

I take a lot of Ubers and Lyfts. You must be the only white boy uber around. Every driver I’ve had between Bush and Kwood has been named Mohammad or something I can’t pronounce. And they all are horrible drivers. Thinking I need to go back to using Kwood Jims towncar service.

I'm sure you would get good service and meet a nice guy that you've know for years but didn't really know him!

Cador may be the only white person left driving for either. When we use them in any state they are exactly what you described, their names are Mahammad or they are here from Africa or South America, and their cars all smell like incense. The driving is an awful too. I don't know how they qualify to keep driving.
When dh was in Alaska summer before last his driver was from Africa. He spoke very little English and dh was pretty sure they were going to crash the entire time.

They normally have their radio station in that preaching stuff in their language. Last guy had it so loud I asked him to turn it down, just rude. They know 95% of the riders are going to find that annoying, it's stupid of them. If the ride is under 5 minutes, I just leave it on my country and as background music, like a volume 3 or 4, where you can hear it, but barely. If it's over 5, I ask them if they prefer a certain radio station (I'll listen to it all as long as it's not cranked up). Normally I get "I don't care, listen to what you want", or "I have my own headphones". And...most of the time have disgustingly dirty cars. I vacuum before each everyday and shake my mats out between 4/5 rides, it goes a long way. If you go to the airport waiting lot (which I do NOT anymore), it's like a reunion of former 7-11 workers . Hey, I put up with alot of BS, no doubt (Uber still has not contacted me to let me know why I am suspended, after working all day in getting un-suspended from Lyft yesterday, it's a clusterphuck), but I need to the $ right now.

Can you just put a few ads out directly? Eventually you would probably have a nice clientele and not need uber/lift. I would much rather have the same driver that I know in some cities.
And I work in the West alot. I'm getting to where I don't want to fly much anymore. I can put up with alot but it's getting really sketch.

You've got to get licensing and permits set up, insurance, yada yada yada. I don't think it would be profitable with the part time "doing it till I get set up as an adj" deal. I think it would have to be a long term investment deal. Also...of all the Uber/Lyft drivers, has to be a reason why there isn't others doing that (not trying to be negative, but real).
