He did not "CREATE" Rock & Roll ... he mainstreamed it!
He was smart enough to find the talented individuals who could sing and perform. He had the means & ability to promote them, but I think the likes of Elvis would have succeeded no matter who discovered them! The change to music was already happening - young teens rejecting the music of their parents, just as country music is changing today and pop music changed a few decades ago.
Can you imagine him saying today what he said in this 1978 video??? WOW!
